Billinger & Schulz – die Dunkelheit

Sebastian dances! And he dances the darkness: despair, sadness, anger - but also party, excess and transition. In their new choreography, which is as challenging as it is moving, Verena Billinger & Sebastian Schulz critically dissect the concept of "toxic masculinity". To do so, they venture into the depths of parallel digital worlds and social retreats. Here, men give free rein to their feelings of uselessness and rejection. The soundtrack for Sebastian's solo is provided by uplifting nightcore songs - a music genre that, as an internet phenomenon, is part of male-influenced echo chambers. Then the three dancers Jungyun Bae, Magdalena Dzeco and Camilla Fiumara appear on stage as anime girls who have become reality. They become sparring partners for breathless relationship training. Together with Sebastian, they constantly form new constellations that reveal the painfully familiar, but also alternatives and ways out.
