Jan Berger presents the AOC:playbook, which introduces the online platform Roblox and the conceptual basis for the artist's elaborate play with infrastructures.
At this event, Berger will guide visitors through his Roblox world AOC:world, which he created especially for the work Act of Contrition. The artist has created a creative studio for digital content, complete with business premises, which is operated entirely by a team of young avatars. This environment serves as a backdrop and subject of artistic exploration, in which Berger experiments with the possibilities of intergenerational, collaborative and alternatively funded practices.
The artist's concern to develop alternatives to common strategies of artistic creation is a direct reaction to systemic inequalities in the current art economy. He explores what influence the use of publicly accessible online platforms such as Roblox could have on the polarized stratification of wealth and power in the art context.
