On the occasion of the publication of Prem Krishnamurthy: Past Words (2024), we invite you to a special book launch. This first anthology of Prem Krishnamurthy's texts includes texts from 2009-2024 as well as two exhibition-like experiments, including A Year With P. Krishnamurthy at KW Institute of Contemporary Art from 2018-2019. The book is published by KW and Kunsthal Gent, in collaboration with Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther und Franz König.

Krist Gruijthuijsen, former director of KW, will have a conversation with Prem Krishnamurthy about exhibition making, language and time. They will also talk to Ann Richter from Studio Pandan, the Berlin graphic design studio that designed the experimental part of the book. Look forward to dialogs, digressions, design and exhibitions - and perhaps karaoke afterwards!

Prem Krishnamurthy leads the Department of Transformation, an artist-organized group that sees art as a means of transformation for individuals, communities and institutions. His multidisciplinary work manifests in books, exhibitions, paintings, performances, publications, systems, lectures, texts and workshops (+ karaoke!). He received the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award for Communication Design in 2015 and the "A Year With..." residency fellowship from KW Institute for Contemporary Art in 2018. He has curated several large-scale exhibitions, including FRONT International 2022: Oh, Gods of Dust and Rainbows. His epistolary essay in book form, On Letters, was published in 2022. Having previously founded Project Projects and P!, he is currently a partner in the design studio Wkshps.

Ann Richter is a designer and co-founder of Studio Pandan, where she weaves many organizational threads and incorporates her wealth of ideas and systematic thinking into various design media. Studio Pandan is a creative studio that emphasizes strong concepts, surprising design and a love of detail in typography. With Studio Pandan she designs visual identities, publications and digital products for clients such as the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao or the ETH Zurich. She is also one half of A.R. practice, which operates at the interface between design and curatorial practice; the duo's work has been shown at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin and published by Onomatopee, among others. As well as engaging with contemporary visual culture, Ann can often be found with her nose in feminist reading or exploring her Southeast Asian roots, such as perfecting puto.
