In the organizer's words:

To liberate the world ... and with which films? These were the questions that film students Anna Pein and Claudia Reiche pursued during their documentary film studies in the 1980s. When they decided on the subject of the circus, namely a small family circus, which they filmed for several seasons and during the winter camp, they did not know which "Allez hopp!" would carry them away from their thoughts. The surviving video from 1988 conveys the encounter with a culture of travelers. With people who, in their circus performances, proudly offer themselves as a mirror of their audience's wishes. The result is a film about hard living conditions, firm traditions and closed meanings, cohesion and friendship, in short: an astonishing, open look at the unknown behind the circus show, which can become a look into one's own.
