In 1216, Uri ben Joel Halevi from Cologne is executed on the orders of the Archbishop of Cologne. His crime is not known. His friend Mordechai ben Eleasar records his great grief in a poem of lamentation, which the Cologne poet and translator Dr. Gundula Schiffer has retranslated. Together with Dr. Christiane Twiehaus, she will read the poem in Hebrew and German and place it in the context of the 13th century and the present day.
