Dancing in the Dark - Paartanz inklusiv!

In the organizer's words:

This offer is aimed at people who are visually impaired or blind, but generally mobile. Sighted people are very welcome. No previous knowledge or dance partner is necessary!

Please register for the 17.11.24 via the VHS. This date costs 26 €.

Registration for 2.12.24 or 2.2.25 via me. These dates take place on a donation basis.

CONTENTS

All participants will learn elements of leading and following and the dance pairs will alternate. It is possible to commit to a role or a dance partner. Changing roles and dance partners is a valuable learning experience to get a better feel for the dance. Physical closeness and touch are adapted to individual needs. The class offers content on musicality, good connection in the dance couple and elements from the Afro-American blues dance. This slow dance gives plenty of room for individual dance expression. As an Afro-American dance, it emphasizes improvisation and offers a creative and intensive connection between music, soul, body and fellow dancers.

INFORMATION FOR BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED PEOPLE

The individuality of all participants is respected and creatively integrated. You can come into a mindful connection with your body and your fellow human beings in slow motion and learn to dance through your body awareness. The content is taught in a needs-oriented way. INFORMATION FOR SIGHTED PEOPLE

In addition to learning about mindful couple dance, you will gain valuable experience of the world of blind and visually impaired people. There are different conditions and degrees of visual impairment and blindness. You can also use simulation glasses to get a better feel for the vision of your fellow dancers.

Volunteers needed:

The organization is looking for sighted people to support the visually impaired and blind participants at the venues. Professional instruction and information material will be provided for this support.

FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT

The leader Friederike Reif is a sighted person, experienced social pedagogue and dance instructor. With her TanzBildung concept "Dancing together", she offers innovative approaches to couple dance. The "Dancing in the Dark" project supports the further development and opening up of couple dance classes for blind and visually impaired people. The project takes place as part of the research semester of the Dance Science Masters at the University of Music and Dance.

Price information:

The workshop at the VHS costs €26, while the workshops at the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired and the Tanzwelten exhibition in Bonn are held on a donation basis.
