Our democracy is currently reminiscent of a patient who is being attacked from various sides, defended and nursed back to health every day by a team of dedicated people, and who keeps bouncing back.

The psychologist and market researcher Stephan Grünewald has described the state of mind of our society very aptly in various books and works. He is co-founder of the Rheingold Institute and bestselling author of books such as "Germany on the Couch", "The Exhausted Society" and "Cologne on the Couch".

Sven Lehmann is a member of the Bundestag from and for Cologne. In this role and as Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Government, he works in the heart of democracy.

Together they talk about our democracy under stress, about our troubled society, about authoritarian attacks - and about what holds us together despite this.
