Die Räuber

Schiller's first drama "The Robbers" is also one of his most famous. At the center are the hostile brothers Franz and Karl. Karl enjoys the goodwill of his father - Count Maximilian von Moor. Franz, on the other hand, always sees himself in his brother's shadow. Filled with jealousy, Franz spins an intrigue. He not only wants to deprive Karl of his inheritance, but also to win Karl's mistress, Amalia von Edelreich, for himself. The ruse has its effect. The deceived Karl sets out to gather a band of robbers around him in the Bohemian forests, to take revenge on the outdated society and to fight for justice. But soon his plan gets out of control. In the end, conflicts ignite and cities burn.

Starting with the band of robbers conspiring against the world, director Felix Krakau tells a fast-paced story of departure. It is about breaking away from the parental home, about great ideals, about friendship and solidarity and, last but not least, about fighting for a place in the world. Against all odds, for the good cause or just for yourself. And in the end you stand there, overflowing with thoughts and feelings, and ask yourself where you actually wanted to go. - Felix Krakau, who works regularly at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus and most recently staged his transcription of "Oedipus" there, will bring Schiller's "The Robbers" to the stage of the Junges Schauspiel in a fast-paced adaptation that alternates between classical verse and contemporary language.
