After the European elections and ahead of the upcoming US presidential election in November, questions about the role of Germany and Poland in the EU and NATO are more urgent than ever. The EU's ability to act against authoritarian systems is at stake and sovereign defense structures for Europe are in demand.

EUROPE DIRECT Düsseldorf, the Gerhart Hauptmann Haus and the Polish Institute Düsseldorf invite you to the discussion event: "How secure is Europe? Perspectives from Germany, Poland and Europe". Panel guests will discuss with:

• Bartosz Wieliński, deputy editor-in-chief of the Polish daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza
• Ulrike Franke, expert on European foreign and defense policy from the European Council on Foreign Relations
