Erland Cooper live im Zenner

On Nov. 7, Scottish composer, interdisciplinary artist Erland Cooper, who combines electronic and classical music with immersive storytelling and conceptual art, stops at the Zenner with his fourth studio album. In "Folded Landscape," released May 2023 on Mercury KX/Decca, Cooper, hailed as a "songwriter of nature," "sonifies" observations around climate change, creating an imposing, experimental new work.

Cooper's new album, a poignant chamber piece, figuratively and literally thaws in seven movements, allowing its listener:s to musically sense drastic temperature changes from sub-zero to extreme heat using electronic sounds, poetry, soprano, piano, harpsichord, field recordings and samples.

Also featured on the album are versatile voices including Simon Armitage, one of Britain's most important contemporary lyricists, activist Greta Thunberg, multi-award winning conservationist Dara McNaulty and visual artist Norman Ackroyd.
