Carsten Meyer was born in Münsterland in 1972 and at the age of eight persuaded his parents to give him piano lessons. After graduating from high school, he moved to Münster to play in various bands.
Since 1997 he has been performing alone at parties and clubs under the name EROBIQUE, encouraging young people to go wild with his improvised and unconventional disco music. After acclaimed performances throughout the German-speaking world, he came to the attention of northern German freestyle rappers Fischmob, who invited him to open for them on their multi-week 'Power' tour in 1998. In 2000, Meyer moved to Hamburg to join DJ Koze and his colleague Comic DJ to form the electronic trio 'International Pony'. The band released three enchanting albums on Columbia and led Meyer and his two comrades-in-arms to furious performances all over Europe.
In parallel, since a collaboration with Schorsch Kamerun at the Schauspielhaus Zurich in 2001 ('Der digitale Wikinger'), Carsten Meyer has worked on many German stages as a theater composer and musician, among others for Studio Braun, Stefan Pucher or Herbert Fritsch. In 2005 Meyer created the 'Suite for Gilbert & George' for the Munich 'Haus der Kunst' under Chris Dercon, which musically accompanied the large retrospective of the British artist couple. After many musical collaborations (including the musical project 'Songs for Joy' with Jacques Palminger at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin), radio play works for WDR and SWR and invitations to musical exchanges in Israel, Brazil and the Ivory Coast, he composed his first film score for the TV film 'Die fremde Familie' by director Stefan Krohmer. In 2009, he was commissioned by the anarcho-joke collective Studio Braun to compose and produce the music for the now legendary mockumentary 'Fraktus'. In the same year, he began collaborating with director Arne Feldhusen for whose award-winning TV series 'Der Tatortreiniger' he not only wrote the theme music, but also put his own musical stamp on each episode. This collaboration also led to his first film role as washed-up solo entertainer 'Günni' in the feature film 'Stromberg'.
Meyer is in his prime, has arrived in the middle of society and now lives in Eimsbüttel.
