EsRAP - Pop-Kultur Festival 2024

In the organizer's words:

The siblings Esra and Enes Özmen come straight from the 16th district aka Vienna-Ottakring. Growing up among working-class children with roots in Turkey, Kurdistan and the Balkans, they developed a love of hip-hop and spoken word. Their debut album "Tschuschistan", released in 2019, received a lot of praise - the use of Turkish-Anatolian instruments and samples in particular, which flow seamlessly into the characteristic sounds of hip-hop (e.g. fat basses), elicited enthusiastic media and scene feedback. Esra's rap parts in particular are characterized by their proximity to the language of the Viennese streets and represent this very specific multi-ethnic slang with sprinkles from all over the world. It is not without reason that EsRAP was also part of the documentary film "Vienna Calling", a survey of the Viennese (underground) scene.

EsRAP perform at Pop-Kultur in the Çaystube - this performative installation serves as a space for experiencing and decelerating queer, decolonial and post-migrant togetherness in the midst of the lively festival events and is freely accessible free of charge .
