eure paläste sind leer (all we ever wanted)

In the organizer's words:

A nameless self walks through the ruins of civilization, asking about the root of the catastrophe. How could it come to this, when it foresaw everything, knew everything? In a rhythmic, musical journey, he questions the human belief in progress and ends up at the heart of European colonialism. The Spanish conquistadors on their search for Eldorado are combined with the addicts of the American opioid crisis, greed for profit with the longing for redemption of desperate people in a society that has run dry, that knows about its downfall - and yet does not act.

With "eure paläste sind leer (all we ever wanted)", award-winning author Thomas Köck puts his finger deep into the wound of a broken capitalist world and its misguided developments, as a result of which not only people but also the planet and its resources are being exploited.

With this play, the Hans Otto Theater is breaking new ground for the sustainable use of resources in the arts. As part of the "Zero" funding program, the theater evening will be produced in a climate-neutral way.
