There's an obvious chemistry in the music of Finom (formerly known as Ohmme) that's so palpable it can only come from a decades-long friendship. Songwriters Sima Cunnningham and Macie Stewart have forged their inseparable bond by performing on the fringes of Chicago's many interlocking communities and collaborating with greats from the city's indie rock, hip-hop and improv worlds. But together, they've pushed the boundaries of what guitar music can do. Finom was formed as an outlet for Cunningham and Stewart to find an unconventional approach to their instruments. "That's the whole genesis of the band: we went to our guitars and said, 'How can we get this noisemaker to do something different?"
