Movie content:
"Determination, will, strength!" This is the soccer battle cry of Fadwa, Halima and their teammates. Their dream of taking part in an international women's tournament, inspired by the Arab Spring, has to be postponed for the time being. The resistance from the patriarchal soccer association and the religious moral guardians is too great. But the women from the most diverse social classes and cultures refuse to give in. If necessary, the team trains at night on a pitch illuminated by car headlights. Slowly, the players emerge from the darkness into the light. "We have fought for so long to realize the dream. We will live here to make the pain go away." Powerful debut by British-Libyan documentary filmmaker Naziha Arebi.(Christian Lösch)
