(F)UNFUG. Mit Regeln spielen

In the organizer's words:

(F)UNFUG transforms the Humboldt Forum into a game spectacle for all generations. With a mixture of escape room, scavenger hunt and sport, (F)UNFUG reinterprets the Forum's house rules as a game framework.

During each show, the audience has one hour to play together and work on solving the puzzles and tasks spread across all floors.

The aim: win all the games and create as much (F)UNFUG as possible before time runs out!

Jokey, nonsensical and very (very) serious - this event will make you play with the rules and question how institutions shape the possibilities of social and cultural interaction.

(F)UNFUG takes place as part of Humbolding! Schüler*innen forschen, a long-term project of the Humboldt Forum Foundation at the Berlin Palace at the interface of education and art. Artistic direction: Alice Fleming and Darren O'Donnell.

Participants

Milton Lim (he/him) is a digital media artist, game designer and performance artist. His research-based practice combines publicly accessible data, interactive digital media and playful performance to create speculative visions and open articulations of social capital. This line of research aims to rethink our repertoires of knowledge accumulation and political intervention in the contemporary context of big data and algorithmic culture.

Patrick Blenkarn (he/him) is an artist working at the intersection of performance, game design and visual art. His research-based practice revolves around the themes of language, labor, democracy and economics, with projects ranging from video games and card games to stage plays and books.

Together, Patrick Blenkarn and Milton Lim explore pressing questions around the social value of art, digital labor and the socio-political potential of games. Combining their backgrounds in performance, philosophy, psychology and digital media, their collaboration has evolved into video games, participatory installations, digital archives and card games. Their works include: asses.masses, a video game that can be played live in a theater from start to finish - most recently at Hebbel am Ufer, Theater Pumpenhaus Münster and Campania Teatro Festival Salerno (Italy) - and culturecapital, a trading card game for the performing arts economy. They are the co-founders of videocan, Canada's national video archive for performance documentation. Milton and Patrick's projects have been presented across Canada as well as in Argentina, Germany, Mexico, EU countries and the UK in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Catalan.
