Texts by Jewish authors read by the ensemble in commemoration of the November 1938 pogroms

Every year on November 9, memorial events commemorate the pogroms against Jews in 1938. However, the anti-Semitic violence of those nights 86 years ago is not a closed chapter in German history, but also a present-day catastrophe. Since the Hamas massacre on October 7, the hostage-taking and the subsequent devastating war in Gaza with countless civilian casualties, the anti-Semitism that has been becoming increasingly evident in Germany for a long time has once again come to the fore. This shames us and makes us angry. The fear of Jewish people in Germany must not become the norm. We are therefore taking November 9 as an opportunity to take a stand against anti-Semitism in Germany and worldwide with a reading of texts by Jewish authors.
