For some it can't be busy enough, for others it's all too much: Berlin is a big city with everything that goes with it. Join us at this event of the "Your emotional city" project to discuss the sunny and dark sides of densification and diversity in our city.
Whether in the subway, at the supermarket checkout, in the park or at the swimming pool - Berlin is full, crowded and quite colorful. For some, this hustle and bustle is what makes the big city so attractive, for others it is a cause for conflict - and for withdrawal from the stressful urban coexistence. Research shows that dense cities are more sustainable and make everyday life easier for many people because, for example, distances are shorter. Density and diversity can therefore improve the quality of life, but also increase social stress and inequality within the city. How can we ensure that they instead become resources that strengthen urban society and characteristics of a sustainable city?
In this event of the project "Your emotional city", we will discuss with you the effects of increasing density and the importance of diversity in our cities. The focus will be on how a diverse society shapes urban coexistence and what opportunities and challenges are associated with it. Your perspectives and experiences are needed!
This event is part of the citizen science project "Deine emotionale Stadt " - a joint project of Interdisziplinäres Forum Neurourbanistik e.V., Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Futurium - Haus der Zukünfte.
In the "Your emotional city" project, we want to work with you to decode the feelings of citizens on specific streets, squares, in neighborhoods and parks and gain insights for cities in general. Together we will discover what makes cities of the future places worth living in. Find out all about the project here.
The future is for everyone! The Futurium wants to be accessible to everyone. If you have any other access needs, please let us know. We will try to fulfill them: info@futurium.de
