A German-Jewish family, a father who survived and the traces of a lost identity: book presentation by Kurt Tallert and discussion with Rebecca Link. The Haus der Geschichte NRW in cooperation with the Bilker Bunker.
In 1933, the National Socialists take power in Germany - a dark chapter that leaves deep scars. This period continues to have an impact on subsequent generations and is still present today.
In his book "Spur und Abweg", Kurt Tallert, known as the "Retrogott", tells the moving story of his father Harry Tallert, who experienced the Nazi dictatorship in a traumatic way. Initially a member of the Hitler Youth, he was persecuted during the Second World War as a "half-Jew" because of his origins. His youngest son Kurt remembers his family history through tape recordings and old letters that Harry wrote as an inmate in the Buchenwald concentration camp.
Be there when Kurt Tallert presents his new book, talks with Rebecca Link about his ancestors' past and its influence on his own identity, performs themed songs and reads impressive passages from his work.
"Geschichte(n) mit Rheinblick" is a series of events organized by the Haus der Geschichte Nordrhein-Westfalen.
