»Green Border« – Interkulturkino

For her feature film "Green Border", award-winning Polish director Agnieszka Holland conducted extensive research and spoke to border guards, refugees, human rights activists and medical staff to find interwoven personal stories: Bashir and Amina are stuck in the no man's land between Poland and Belarus on their flight from Syria, driven back and forth in the restricted area by the border guards of both countries. One of them on the Polish side is Jan, who is confronted with existential questions as the conflict escalates, while psychotherapist Julia, who has just moved to the borderland, tries to actively help the refugees. A polyphonic drama of hope and despair, cynicism and humanity unfolds between the protagonists of the film, which also reaches us in the current debate about the isolation and push-back of refugees.
