A different policy is possible. We just have to change the attitudes and conditions that have been practiced for too long. As a practitioner and mayor for many years, Peter Kurz has experienced what makes good politics difficult or even impossible. Because it is the cities and municipalities where the laws from Berlin collide with reality and encounter difficulties in their implementation. This is where experience can be gained as to what works and what doesn't, which political ideas are really profitable and which are not. All the big issues such as climate change, education, migration, housing, mobility, health and the preservation of democracy ultimately play out at municipal level because this is where they are implemented in practice. We must learn from the cities, then politics will also improve! Far removed from ideology and party politics, Peter Kurz shows what is important and how the necessary change can be given a chance.
Mannheim's long-serving mayor talks to Andrea Römmele, Professor of Political Communication, about his experiences. Presenter Frauke Kühnl will lead through the evening.
In cooperation with the Mannheim Evening Academy
