HINSCHAUEN - Kulturfestival zu Obdach- und Wohnungslosigkeit

In the organizer's words:

Homelessness and housing shortages are rising rapidly in Berlin. The wider the circles that are potentially threatened, the less attention is paid and the greater the fear: people are quick to look away, repressed - during the European Championships, people were even systematically evicted from public places.HINSCHAUEN nowputs homelessness and homelessness on stage for two weeks, in central places of public life.

The protagonists are the people affected themselves: We hear their voices in the FREILUFT AUDIO INSTALLATION HINSCHAUEN (sound artist Peter Breitenbach and director Martin Heesch) and their sounds at a FEST DER BERLINERSTRASSENMUSIKER*INNEN, we see their everyday lives in the OPEN-AIR PHOTO EXHIBITION ONE WISH by artist Debora Ruppert (most recently:HOME STREET HOME, Deutscher Bundestag, 2023) and we learn from their experiences in READING AND TALK WITH WRITERRICHARDBROX, perhaps Germany's most prominent ex-homeless person (most recently DEUTSCHLAND OHNE DACH, Rowohlt 2023). The long-standing artistic director of the Greizer Theaterherbst, Martin Heesch, is the initiator of the festival. He himself develops the THEATERARBEIT HALTESTELLE from staged experiences with young people from "Straßenkinder e.V." and those affected, who act artistically in the association "Unter Druck - Kultur von der Straße".

The indispensable actors on the periphery of homelessness will also have their say: initiatives, social workers, authors and politicians (patron is Martin Schaefer, Mayor of Lichtenberg) will present their approaches in discussions with the question: How can we transform the spectator's gaze into concrete impulses for action?

The cultural festival is aimed at passers-by and those interested in culture, young and old - the infamous RIXDORFER PUPPENBÜHNE will contribute a cross-generational harlequinade with HOMELESS KASPER. HINSCHAUEN brings together: Homeless and homeless people, ex-homeless people and all the many for whom an abstract danger lurks in housing shortages. A stage is open for spontaneous positions.


The program is daily from 3-10 p.m., on Caligariplatz between Prenzlauer Berg and Weißensee from 28.8.-1.9.24, on the station forecourt in Lichtenberg from 4-8.9.24.
