HUNDEHERZ. Eine Produktion von HAUEN UND STECHEN in Kooperation mit THEATER THIKWA und WESTGERMANY

In the organizer's words:

DOG'S HEART

A production by HAUEN UND STECHEN in cooperation with THEATER THIKWA and WESTGERMANY.

A street dog in distress ends up in a shady practice and becomes the victim of a terrible experiment: He is to be transplanted with a human cerebellum. But something goes wrong during the operation and the medical staff are transformed at the same time...

An opera performance in West Germany, a former dentist's surgery at Kottbusser Tor. Music theater collective Hauen und Stechen and Theater Thikwa operate on a post-Soviet creature. Can anything good come of it? And if not, what to do with the waste? Between the hope of experimentation, hubris and sheer horror, it's about cracks in history, confused circumstances and mean theater criticism.

An operation based on the novella of the same name by Mikhail Bulgakov.

In the performance HUNDEHERZ we are concerned with the transformations from animal to human and from human to animal. With a trip to the museum, we also want to pursue this theme in art history. Since time immemorial, people have been transforming themselves into animals by imitating their movements and sounds, through masks, pinned ears and horns, through costumes with fur, wings and claws. Rituals of animal transformations seem to have existed in the earliest cultures, later animal people migrated into mythology, fantastic zoology and the grotesque decorations of salons and parks. In the historically designed rooms of the Bodemuseum, we visit satyrs, fauns, scapegoats and devils who got stuck halfway in the transformation between human and animal.

Please note that the price does not include admission to the museum. You will need to purchase a ticket yourself before the start of the tour and may be entitled to a discount in accordance with the Bode Museum's scale of fees.

The guided tour is conducted in German.
