In the organizer's words:

hush

shows different facets of the theme of silence in an installative dance performance. Gitta Roser and team negotiate the themes of silence and the politics of silence in a physical, visual and acoustic polyphony with three performers with and without disabilities, a sound artist and a video artist.

The production uses artistic audio description/"Aesthetics of Access".

"A fascinating performance is created in which it is initially impossible for the audience to tell who is part of the ensemble. As a result, everyone becomes an actor without the situation getting out of hand into participatory theater."
Quote from the review in the Kölnische Rundschau by Thomas Linden, October 5, 2023

The dance performance

Situational constellations are created in which movement is juxtaposed with stillness, the raised voice with silence and the inner with the outer. At the transitions between opposing poles, stories of bodies crystallize, which also bring political questions into play with the power of what is not said and the power of forbidding words.

The performance is complemented by two spatial installations that invite the audience to linger and research before and after the performances:
a reading-quoting room (Cellulose Room) and an audio room (Audi-O-ase).
The room installations open one hour before each performance.

Gitta Roser also explores means of accessibility artistically: the audio description not only serves to ensure accessibility for blind and visually impaired people in the performance, but also becomes an artistic vocabulary. Different levels of sensory perception are opened up. In addition, a tactile tour is offered before each performance, in which people with and without visual impairments can participate.

hush is invited to the Dance Life Festival at the Kenya National Theatre, Nairobi in July 2025.
