On 25.10. a rare weather phenomenon isexpected: a "moonlight psychosis", described as a mixture of thunderously clarifying guitar feedback songs and tenderly melting folk-pop shooting stars, is to appear in the Kantine am Berghain!

In other words: the host band The Doctorella will be playing their entire new album "Mondscheinpsychose, Bordsteinrose" (release date 20.09.24) live for the first time! On it, they enchant their fans with deep and rapturously high-flying noise-pop songs that make use of the rhyme-dense expressive possibilities of trap and hip hop.

Glitter squirrel award!

Yes, female rock musicians from Germany, the country in which only three percent of all composers registered with GEMA are women, can also achieve strokes of genius.

And that's why there will be even more of them at the 24th Genius Edition!

Kersty Grether and Sandra Grether are once again inviting the most exciting female* acts! They also welcome the glittering squirrel, which is now rushing out of the forest of new discoveries to be presented as a blingbling trophy!

Then there is once again the brilliant award ceremony in the categories: Song, Book, Album, Performance, Visionary, Lifetime Achievement, Production, Activism.

We're allowed to spoil a little: because that increases the anticipation! A few of the award winners have already been announced, in which category remains a surprise.

And the squirrel itself is also all about moonlight psychosis! This year's ingenious trophy is a solar squirrel that is charged with solar energy during the day and thenshines at night on the balconiesand in the gardens and streets of our award winners.

Luise Meier:

reads from her new novel "Hyphen" (Matthes & Seitz), in which she lays out biographies, experiences, dreams and wishes like mushroom threads, interweaving them with unrealized futures and revealing them: The world, it is not coming to an end - rather, it is emerging anew, in radical, all-encompassing connectedness.

Luise Meier, born in East Berlin in 1985, works as a freelance author, theater maker and service worker. She studied philosophy, social and cultural anthropology and cultural studies in Berlin, Frankfurt a. d. Oder and Aarhus.

We've been following The Tchick's project "Fetter Arsch gegens Patriarchat" with breathless excitement - we stream their hit "Mach sie platt" every day while eating pizza. At Berghain's Kantine, Luise Fuckface and her dead crack whores will present us with the most underrated platformer in the fight against "Herrenmenschendeutschland".

Toni Kater:

Berlin songwriter and singer Toni Kater is celebrating her 20th anniversary this year. Her debut single "Wo bist du?" was released in May 2004

We took the Kater woman with her casual and lucid song lines to our hearts right from the start. Now her seventh album will be released this November. On it, the singer, for whom beauty and danger are always one and the same, draws the coolest conclusion of all time: "I haven't learned anything, I haven't learned anything from anything, but I'm ready for anything!" Us too!

Kim:

Anyone who manages to cover a classic of music history that has been covered hundreds of millions of times, yet again, and even top the original, in sound and vision - they belong on the stage of "I need a genius"!

Kim's version of Kate's Bush's "Wuthering Heights" is as enchanting, as raw and as red as the passionate love the song is about. There has never been so much forest on the Berghain-Kantine stage!

Tell A Vision:

The visions of this artist are manifold and can only be achieved with extreme and loving precision. Fee Kürten, the singer, songwriter and music producer, reflects on her youthful love of hip hop on her latest album "Call Me By My Name" and presents bold songs between trip-hop, spoken word and plunderphonics. This fits in with Kürten's new sense of mission and her refreshing "empowerment."
