In Conversation: Tino Sehgal

In the organizer's words:

The "In Conversation" series starts the year 2025 with one of the most renowned contemporary artists: Tino Sehgal. His work is directly linked to the Hamburger Bahnhof - Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, as it was here that he had the idea for his specific artistic practice of constructing "situations" and generating social interactions. A conversation about the beginnings of an artist who studied choreography and economics, the political dimension of his works and the museum as a place of social change.

Sehgal's works have been shown in extensive solo exhibitions, including at Centro Botín, Santander (2023); Remai Modern, Saskatoon (2022); Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C. (2018); Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, (2018); Fondation Beyeler, Basel (2017). In 2013 he was awarded the Golden Lion at the 55th Venice Biennale.
