In "Big Gay Cartoon Machine", Dreammusics performs as a trio with electronics, consisting of virtuoso jazz musicians Elliot Galvin on piano/sampler, Jay Davis on drums and Alex Paxton on trombone.
Paxton's distinctive compositional voice is clearly audible throughout the set, while all the pieces celebrate the fiery creative identities of the three musicians. Although the music is recognizably drawn from the same "world building" material as Alex's orchestral music, Big Gay Cartoon Machine is a catalyst for groove and solo improvisation combined with his unique trombone style.
With the addition of endless midi synthesizers, choirs, strings, samples and drum machines, the trio offers a universe of diversity. The music is serious, sensual, desperate and joyful. It tells stories and depicts smells in sounds.
