Jaffar Hussain Randhawa is coming to Europe for the first time at the invitation of Pakistani Grammy winner Arooj Aftab and the Dutch Le Guess Who? festival.
Guldasta, which means bouquet of flowers, is the first solo release by Pakistan's oldest and most experienced clarinet maestro, Ustad Jaffar Hussain Randhawa. It was recorded live on the rooftop of his house in Shahdara on a foggy winter afternoon, sitting under the alam with his favorite accompanists. He named the album Guldasta because he imagines it like a bouquet of flowers, blending different ragas and styles, each flower exuding its own fragrance.
