Jasmine Myra: Euphoric instrumental music
After a sensational show last year, British saxophonist Jasmine Myra is coming back to us in October and is also bringing a new album with her. Beautifully arranged, "Rising" combines Jasmine Myra's musical influences from Kenny Wheeler, Bonobo, Olafur Arnalds and Shabaka Hutchings into a coherent whole. Her spiritual instrumental music has a euphoric and uplifting sound with a very special quality - indulgent, melodic and blissful without slipping into sentimentality.
Saxophonist, composer and bandleader Jasmine Myra hails from Leeds and now lives in London. She has been signed to Gondwana Records since 2022 and works closely with label owner and producer Matthew Halsall, whose flair for talent has already brought the music of GoGo Penguin, Mammal Hands and Hania Rani to the world. In the summer of 2022, she released her highly acclaimed debut album "Horizons", which was enthusiastically received by critics. With club shows and festival appearances across the UK and mainland Europe, her career took off.
"Rising" seamlessly builds on the quality of its predecessor and is an important statement for British jazz. She recorded the album once again with guitarist Ben Haskins, drummer George Hall, pianist Jasper Green, harpist Alice Roberts and bassist Sam Quintana, who together skillfully underscore the subtle textures of Myra's music and play with a collective sensibility and dynamism that really sends the music on a radiant journey. Don't miss!
