Theresia Philipp appears as part of the German jazz scene both as a leader and as a sidewoman. She also works as a composer for both small ensembles and big bands, most recently for the HR Big Band and the MDR Rundfunkchor, and stands out in particular for her versatility and impressive projects, including Pollon with Strings, which was awarded the Cologne Jazz Prize in 2020 and the WDR Jazz Prize in 2022, and she is also a lecturer at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. Her musical work has included collaborations with Pablo Held, Sunna Gunnlaugs, Pape Samory Seck, Jim Black, Lionel Loueke, Shannon Barnett, Julia Hülsmann, Jozef Dumoulin, Donny McCaslin, Charles McPherson, Dejan Terzic, John Taylor, Nils Wogram and many others, and the concert will focus on both her big band compositions and her expressiveness as an improviser.
