LIVE / Yesterdaze Tour
There is almost nobody in the German indie scene who has never heard of him. But where to start, how to categorize and where to stop? People usually stop at the end, but Jesper Munk is far from finished, quite the opposite. At the age of 31, his search for his own sound world has proved successful, which can be clearly heard at concerts and on record. A lot has happened in the last 12 years and Jesper Munk's story is one of many ups and downs, from bluesy supernova to hip but underrated crooner, from teenage poster boy to established and seasoned singer/songwriter.
The Return of...
Jesper Munk! In 2024, the Berlin-based German-Dane is back in all his facets. He has reconciled himself with parts of his early work, especially to the great delight of his blues fans, whom he inspired right at the beginning of his career as tour support for Eric Burdon, among others. Which is why all those who have sorely missed classics from "Morning Coffee" and "Clean" to "Shakespeare And Heartbreak" and "Courage For Love" at his concerts in recent years will now get their money's worth again.
In 2019, Jesper Munk co-founded the post-punk/kink-jazz underground band P.D.O.A. (Public Display Of Affection) and shortly afterwards also joined the Berlin art-noise cult band Plattenbau. Both bands definitely had a positive influence on his musical horizon and the future prospects of his solo career.
Jesper Munk has also recorded a new album. After the highly acclaimed cover album "Taped Heart Sounds", this time with his own song material. "YESTERDAZE" will be released in October 2024 with its delicate lo-fi to hi-fi production that warms the soul and heart of every indie aficionado, which Jesper Munk has taken into his own hands this time. It features a colorful crooner's bouquet somewhere between jazz and new wave, chanson, balladic blues and lots of soul. He was once again supported by The Cassette Heads, who will also accompany him live on tour.
