You can get used to the early retired policeman Gerhard Beckmann, as the second book with him shows. Jochen Brunow once again proves himself to be a storyteller with poetic added value. Born in Rendsburg, Jochen Brunow studied German and journalism in Berlin and graduated with a video film "Recht hat der Brecht! He worked as a film critic for Der Abend and tip and from 1980 to 1982, together with three colleagues, he published the film magazine Filme - Altes und Neues vom Kino. He went on to write screenplays for films such as Berlin Chamissoplatz (1980) and System ohne Schatten (1983). For television, he wrote episodes for his own ZDF crime series Beckmann und Markowski, as well as for Bella Block and Kommissarin Lucas. He has also written scripts for the television films Klassentreffen(Sat.1, 2001), Der Mann und das Mädchen (DRS, 2004) and Der Einsturz Sat.1 (2010).

Brunow is one of the founders of the professional association of screenwriters, VDD, which was established in 1987. He has taught screenwriting at various universities and academies. From 2007 to 2017, Brunow was head of the screenwriting academy at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin.

In addition to screenplays, he also writes essays and radio features and published the film and screenplay almanac Scenario with Bertz + Fischer Verlag, of which 10 editions have been published. Brunow is a member of the German Film Academy.
