Keanan Eksteen

Born and raised in the small South African town of Kraaifontein, Keanan Eksteen grew up with the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty as the soundtrack to his youth. With his debut album in the bag, he and his band are returning to Hafen 2 after exactly one year.

"My songwriting started slowly, I was interested in lyrics that were symbolic or cryptic, the kind that force you to find your own meaning, or look at things from a different angle. The songs I write now are mostly a reflection of how we see ourselves, and a lot of it is self-reflection. I can put myself in someone else's shoes and experience something that I haven't experienced myself. My music is my most honest and raw form of who I am. It allows me to express my thoughts and feelings about love, family and life itself. I never want to get lost in the dense music industry we have today, so I'm always looking for new and exciting ways to write a song and share it with the world," Keanan says of himself.
