Special screening ONLY on 22.12. at 18:00 at Sputnik Kino!
Frank Zappa, provocative rock musician and celebrated guitarist, is one of the most recognizable faces of rock music. While he is virtually absent from American and English pop culture, his rock music legacy is being preserved not in America by his estranged sons, but in a small coastal town in northern Germany by a group of friends who have been infected with the Zappa virus since their early youth. These dedicated fans founded a festival back in the days of the GDR, to which fans, musicians and former companions of Frank Zappa have been traveling from all over the world every summer for over 30 years.
The documentary KOSMISCHE BROCKEN tells the story of an unusual music festival, with which a small group of East German music lovers hold on to their dream against all odds and keep a worldwide unique festival in honor of Frank Zappa alive in the Zappanale. In interviews with music journalists, composers, collectors, fans, Zappateers and Zappologists, KOSMISCHE BROCKEN paints a picture of a close-knit community that bravely resists the sound patterns and exploitation strategies of the music industry.
At the end of the 'Zappadan', the period between the anniversary of Frank Zappa's death and his birthday from December 4 to 21, there will be a traditional special screening of KOSMISCHE BROCKEN:
