On 11 October 2024, the children's rights organization Plan International is holding a day of action as part of the "Champions of Change" sports days at the sports school and educational facility of the Landessportbund Hessen e.V.

Children aged 8 to 12 are cordially invited to get a taste of various sports together with two successful athletes and Plan ambassadors from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.: karateka Sophie Wachter (German individual champion 2019, among others) and fitness coach Erik Jäger. The event offers space for up to 60 children and participation is free of charge. Registration is online at www.plan.de/sport-tage.

The "Champions of Change" sports day is closely linked to Plan International's commitment to equality. The name is based on the long-standing global Plan program "Champions of Change", which brings girls and boys together in Plan International's partner countries to raise their awareness of the importance of gender equality and to empower them to work together to achieve this goal. Sport often plays a central role in this, as it promotes team spirit, self-confidence and mutual respect. The day of action in Frankfurt am Main takes place on World Girls' Day (11.10.), a UN day of action launched on the initiative of Plan International. This day commemorates the rights of girls and draws attention to existing inequalities. The "Champions of Change" Sports Day addresses these issues and campaigns for girls and boys to stand up together for a fairer world.

Sophie Wachter: "Sport unites and empowers - regardless of gender. With our 'Champions of Change' sports day, I want to show that karate and every other sport is for everyone. Together, we turn exercise into an experience full of fun and cohesion."

Erik Jäger: "Change means change. We can only achieve this by encouraging and inspiring children and young people.
