Kuti Kuti Finnische Independent Comics

In the organizer's words:

After inviting two internationally renowned magazines with a global reach to Bremen in previous years, Kus from Riga and Stripburger from Ljubljana, the Finnish comics scene will be presented in 2024 with the equally relevant magazine KUTI . Like Kus from Latvia and Stripburger from Slovenia, KUTIpresents a broad spectrum of international female artists alongside the Finnish comics scene. At raum404, the focus will be on artists from the magazine's country of origin. With Terhi Adler, Esko Heikkilä, Jesse Matilainen, Kari Sihvonen and Mikko Väyrynen, representatives of a young generation of female comic artists will be presented , in whose development KUTI was already an integral part of Finnish comic culture. In terms of style, the exhibition ranges from dark illustrative works and macabre comics in the style of US underground comics to experimental formats such as spatial comics.

At the opening of the exhibition, Terhi Adler and Jesse Matilainen will be guests in Bremen and will give us an insight into their work and give a comic reading.

We are also particularly pleased that we have been able to invite Esko Heikkilä and Mikko Väyrynen to introduce us to Finnish comic culture as part of the Bremre Zine Festival. In this context, there will be an open workspace by Kutikuti and a lecture about Kutikuti and the Finnish comics scene.
