On May 23, 2024, the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany will be 75 years old. As the final instance of the judiciary, the Federal Constitutional Court is responsible for its validity: a task that also involves reviewing decisions made by the executive, sometimes even including corrections. The constitutional guardian from Karlsruhe is therefore one of the main pillars of our liberal and democratic constitutional state.
Professor of Public Law and Philosophy of State Peter M. Huber was a judge at the Federal Constitutional Court for 13 years; the current Chairman of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Norbert Lammert was President of the German Bundestag for twelve years. Both can look back on many years of experience in different areas of divided state power and will discuss the relationship between the judiciary and the executive. Moderator: Alexander Görlach
