On 30 November 2023, the Russian Supreme Court in Moscow decided - on the basis of a corresponding application by the Ministry of Justice - to "recognize the international public LGBTQ+ movement as an extremist organization and ban its activities in Russia". This legal step marks only one stage on a long path of discrimination and persecution of people who stand up for self-determination.

Dr. Alexandra Berlina - already known in our house as a formidable (re)translator of Mikhail Bulgakov's "The Master and Margarita" - and Wanja Kilber are familiar with the situation of queer people in the recent past and the present in Russia. They will explain recent developments in various areas of society.
