Gayhane - The oldest queer party in Berlin!

As part of Waiting Rooms, a series of events organized by the initiative Adalbert Neun bleibt e.V. for the preservation of the Kreuzberg art and culture location at Adalbertstraße 9

The third Waiting Room episode of the Initiative Adalbert Neun bleibt e.V. is dedicated to the legendary queer oriental party Gayhane, which has been part of the SO36 program for over 20 years and is an integral and formative part of Kreuzberg's Oranienkiez. With a listening session, a talk and lots of music, Atelierhaus Adalbertstraße 9 invites you to an entertaining and queer evening, where everything revolves around the people and the vibe of Gayhane.

The Adalbertstraße 9 studio community is closely linked to Gayhane through its immediate neighborhood and friendly ties. Together with the protagonists, we will listen to the documentary podcast: "Gayhane, Die älteste Queer-Party Berlins!" and learn more about the unique atmosphere and community of the party series. Artist Rüzgâr Buşki takes us on a journey through the eventful history of the queer Oriental party. Together with other podcast protagonists İpek İpekçioğlu and Sabuha Salaam, we discuss the profound significance of the party for the neighborhood and for Berlin. A Gayhane playlist will accompany the program with atmosphere and flair throughout the evening.

With the Gayhane evening, we want to highlight the artistic and cultural diversity and identity of the neighborhood as well as draw attention to the precarious and uncertain studio situation that threatens the future of existing artistic networks and artistic production in general.
