LIVE: Cats & Breakkies

Cats & Breakkies are four young Berliners with jazz in their hearts and techno in their genes. In a classic band line-up - electric guitar, bass, drums, keys - they rock an instrumental DJ live set on stages, floors and festivals at any time. Always danceable, with the courage to play elegiac melodies, opulent breaks and lush pads, they impress above all with the precision in the build-up of tension and the sonic breadth of their arrangements.

Following the release of their debut album organic electro in 2015, produced in collaboration with David August, they were nominated for the 2016 Bremen Jazz Award in the category "Jazz & Electronics" in 2016, followed by numerous appearances at festivals and clubs, including the Kantine am Berghain, the Tallinn Music Festival and the Berlistanbul Festival.

With spectral, they went one better in 2018. In ten tracks, which together make up three independent short sets, they artfully weave sonic and metric layers into each other, drill thick disco boards, deliver perfect build up and drop dramaturgy - and above all make an incredible amount of pressure in a relaxed way.

Cats & Breakkies is elegant, no-frills live techno from Berlin.
