For Waltari, outer space has always been the music - galaxies of sound beyond clichés and trends - and 2021 sees the Finnish pioneers celebrating the 30th anniversary of their very first journey into that space in true style, meaning that while a best-of compilation might be appropriate for such an occasion, Waltari wouldn't be themselves if they hadn't cooked up something special. "We realized that it's been 30 years since Monk-Punk," says co-founder and leader Kärtsy Hatakka. "So we thought of honoring this with several exclusive concerts, but then the virus came, so we thought we'd make a record with some unusual guests."And unusual the album is indeed: For 3rd Decade - The Anniversary Edition, the group has reworked material from all their creative phases and selected some of their best songs to give them a new spin with the help of like-minded musicians from all walks of life, be it Sami Yoik duo Angelit or electro hip-hop stars Bomfunk MC's, German industrial pioneer Jürgen Engler from Die Krupps or other compatriots such as former Nightwish bass player and singer Marko Hietala, humppa legends Eläkeläiset and Korpiklaani frontman Jonne, The 69 Eyes singer Jyrki, Mr. Lordi himself and his band plus members of Amberian Dawn, Hanoi Rocks, Negative and Beast In Black.
