LOST IN MUSIC: Read & Cover

Event with readings and live music

After the summer, "Lost in Music" continues with round 4. Once again, authors, journalists and presenters will be reading in quick succession with musicians and bands, followed by dancing together. Under the motto LOST IN MUSIC, Markus Naegele brings together what belongs together: literature and music. An event that is literarily about music. Letters, (auto)biographical texts, articles, excerpts from novels from the wide world of pop music. Live music, but not just any music, no, LOST IN MUSIC is also about the high art of cover versions, performed by ever-changing local acts. Afterwards, DJ friends play their favorite records and it's time to party.

The performers:

SANDRA LIMONCINI, born in 1970 in NRW, was actually supposed to become a teacher according to her Italian father's wishes, so please study something solid. Nothing came of it. Instead, the stubborn girl listened to the Sex Pistols and Paul Weller, studied political science and did a traineeship in television and radio to become a journalist. She presented "Live aus dem Schlachthof" on Bavarian television and became an author and reporter. Sandra Limoncini has worked in various editorial departments at Bayerischer Rundfunk since 1994. Music has accompanied her throughout her life, as a singer in a band, as a music fan of almost all genres, as a DJ and as part of the Zündfunk editorial team on Bayern2.

FRANZ DOBLER lives in Bavaria and has published novels and books of poetry since 1988, for which he was awarded the Bavarian Literature Prize, as well as short stories and music books, including the Johnny Cash biography "The Beast in Me". His crime novels "Ein Bulle im Zug" and "Ein Schlag ins Gesicht" both won the German Crime Novel Prize. The latter was filmed by Nina Grosse as "Nicht tot zu kriegen" with Iris Berben and Murathan Muslu. Most recently, his autobiographical novel "Ein Sohn von zwei Müttern" was published.

MARC VILLON is asinger and author. Especially with his glampunk band ZOO ESCAPE, but also solo, he has been touring Europe live since his teenage days and has released a variety of music. He has always combined different styles between chanson and punk: a mixture of classical and ecstatic. A new album with ZOO ESCAPE will be released in fall 2024.

DAVID BAALCKE , born in Munich in 1966, is a German actor who has appeared on many theater stages after training at the New Munich Drama School. Since the mid-1990s, he has also worked in front of the camera in TV and cinema productions, such as "Tatort" and the cult series "Hindafing". He will soon be appearing in the movie "Alter weißer Mann" by Simon Verhoefen. As a musician, Baalcke played for several years in the bands Merricks and Der Englische Garten.

THE WITCHES OF WESTEND. The women's choir was founded in Munich in 2013 by Pola Dobler and sees itself as a feminist choir with activist ambitions. The repertoire ranges from political/rebellious messages, sixties and indie covers to mystical, textless soundscapes. All pieces are specially arranged and partly composed and written by the band itself. The Witches regularly interact with other musicians and artists and are committed to networking and female empowerment in Munich's cultural scene and beyond.

Principess are the three musicians Maria Moling, Julia Viechtl and Teresa Staffler. Drums, bass and organ. They all sing. The music is somewhere between feminist Kraut Pop and Italo Post Wave. Or Italo Kraut Pop Deluxe. Munich, Italy's northernmost city, is their adopted home. A self-confident sound that can only be created near the Alps. Their themes are feminism. Mansplaining as its best. The gender pay gap. PMS. Hormones. Sexism. No new topics? Unfortunately not. But still far too topical. Her debut album has just been released by Trikont.

DON MARCO has been playing in various underground bands since the 90s. As singer, guitarist and songwriter of the indie garage band Fuck Yeah, he released two albums and played with bands such as Maximo Park, Algiers and Frightened Rabbit. He also released two albums in German, Don Marco & die kleine Freiheit, with various musicians. 2024 saw the live debut of his new band Drug Stop. Under his real name Markus Naegele, he earned his living as publishing director at Heyne Hardcore and is now head of the btb Verlag program.

KING BROWNIE comes from Osnabrück, where he influenced a whole generation musically as a DJ in Hyde Park and supported the likes of Die Ärzte, Stray Cats, Hanoi Rocks, Bo Diddley and the Undertones. He managed Lüde & the Astros for many years and works as a record salesman.
