Ludger Gerdes: Synkategoremata

In view of Münster's self-image as a city of sculpture projects, following the reopening of the Stadthausgalerie, the Kunsthalle Münster is taking the opportunity to take a look at public space and questions of art and the public sphere in an exemplary manner beyond the major exhibition that takes place every ten years. The exhibition Synkategoremata by the German artist Ludger Gerdes (1954-2008) is the second exhibition in this series after Off the Pedestals last year. On the occasion of the artist's 70th birthday, the show provides an insight into Gerdes' diverse artistic work and examines his critical examination of institutions and the subjects that constitute them. The starting point of the exhibition is the work Schiff für Münster ( Ship for Münster, 1987), which Gerdes realized as part of the Skulptur Projekte and which subsequently remained in Münster and is now part of the public collection.
