A SoBo production

Dance by Darja Reznikova & Sade Mamedova

The utopian idea of peace, which has always been and still is a sheer challenge, could be reduced to the saying "Do not do to others what you would not like done to yourself". We all want to live in peace and expect our state, our country and our politicians to help us achieve this dream. Unfortunately, the reality is much more complicated than it seems.

This project is a reflection on the consequences of global conflicts on our personal lives, on everyday encounters with ourselves and others. The effects of education and propaganda, the loss of dialog and the inner conflicts that arise from our different national and cultural identities are addressed. What shapes who we become, what we believe in and how we perceive the world around us? Is your world the same as mine?

On the one hand, the project attempts to use the language of dance to decode the causes of violence in order to understand how nationalist thinking and conflicts arise on the basis of certain ideologies that override any sense of humanity and differentiation. On the other hand, it is about exploring conflict resolution and innate aspects of human nature that can be transferred to the collective. This approach is social in nature and calls for a closer look at myself and the "world" I live in, the boundaries I draw and cross, the people I understand and those I judge.
