Let yourself be surprised by unusual perspectives, new experiences and feelings. The IFFMH celebrates exchange. We do more than just talk about films with our two guests of honor. We talk about their attitude, their commitment, their motivations, their entire oeuvre. And of course you, the audience, are cordially invited to ask any questions that interest you.
For all their diversity, Lynne Ramsay's films reveal clear continuities. Sometimes, as in music, they seem to be variations on a theme. Both within individual films and across the board: her works speak to each other over an interval of up to 18 years. Think of the end of 'Ratcatcher' and 'A Beautiful Day' or the motif of water in these films. What does she think about these continuities? Specifically: about the significance of music for her work? Or the indirectness of her storytelling? We will also talk about her fascination with trauma. And last but not least, about the role of childhood and how she achieves such extraordinary performances with young actors and international stars. Of course, we will also take a look at her current projects.
Directly before the masterclass, there will be an opportunity to see Lynne Ramsay's sensational feature film debut 'Ratcatcher', with which she won the British BAFTA Award, in the same building.
[The Masterclass will be held in English and Free admission.]
