Matt Copson Coming of Age. Age of Coming. Of Coming Age.

In the organizer's words:

Curator: Emma Enderby
Assistant curator: Lara Scherrieble

Coming of Age. Age of Coming. Of Coming Age is the first institutional solo exhibition by artist Matt Copson (* 1992, UK). Copson's multidisciplinary work poses existential questions about life and contemporary subjectivity, which is increasingly under the influence of permanent change, spectacle and attention-seeking. Inspired by pop culture, myths, fables and cultural archetypes, Copson creates video works, sculptures, operas and performative installations with lasers, sound and text.

At the center of the exhibition at KW will be Copson's latest expansive laser installation: His trilogy Coming of Age - an animated Bildungsroman with a newborn baby as the main character - will take up the entire main hall of KW. The operatic work explores the fundamental human experience from the perspective of a newborn exploring the sense and nonsense of this world.

The exhibition will be accompanied by the artist's first monograph, in collaboration with CURA. Supported by the LUMA Foundation. Media partner: Yorck Kinogruppe
