Choral fairy tale by the zaungäste collective

Do you know any aquatic creatures? Mermaids, for example? Can you tell me about them? Where do you think life is more beautiful: on land or under water? Who is better at burping? Mermaids or humans? How do you dance underwater? And why are mermaids sometimes scary?

A five-member choir celebrates an underwater party on stage. They are expecting a guest of honor: the mermaid. As the party slowly gets underway, it becomes clear that not everyone has the same expectations of their guest and different ideas of what makes a successful party. Questions about belonging, community and the secret longing to be someone else are raised. And the mermaid is a long time coming ... or has she already arrived?

The fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen served as a starting point for the zaungäste collective to talk to people of different ages about their fascination with and projections onto these unfathomable water creatures. These interviews with children and adults form the basis for a polyphonic story.

The zaungäste collective has been working with choirs on stage for many years, in which they are always concerned with the storytelling itself. In "Meerjungfrauen rülpsen besser" they use this method for young theater for the first time.
