Slow Club Freiburg presents:
MESSER
Where there is a crater, there must have been an incident. Something has hit or erupted where there is now silence. In 2012, Messer spewed a feverish debut into the bubbling enthusiasm for punk from Germany and grew into a formative voice in the post-punk revival of the decade - probably precisely because they are still at odds with the present, keeping an eye on it, touching it, but not being absorbed by it or allowing themselves to be driven by it. Numerous rock bands talk themselves into being stagnant, whereas the group Messer's belief in the band format brings them forward. Four people - Pogo McCartney, Milek, Hendrik Otremba, Philipp Wulf - who come together again and again, from their lives and other creative work, with new acquaintances and impulses, to work out what their shared aesthetic vision can actually look like right now.
You can hear the celebration of this concept on the new album. Presumably also because the album concludes a phase of reorganization that was still in full swing on No Future Days (2020): after Jalousie (2016), the new four-piece consciously decided to work without guests and for the first time produced completely independently in a sound that shifted towards dub and funk. What was still wildly rampant on the last two records is now more firmly established and at the same time provides security for further expeditions. Crater music has been created!
Messer are accompanied on their current tour by Timm Völker.

EILIS FRAWLEY
In a world where political expression in pop is often either loud and angry or non-existent, there is a need for nuance; preferably in the form of strong FLINTA* voices that point out current grievances with a cool head and thus initiate change. Eilis
Frawley achieves this feat with razor-sharp precision, while at the same time taking a playful and experimental, subtle look at her surroundings and inviting listeners into her very personal, wonderfully stubborn-sounding emotional world. The Australian-born musician finally lands in Berlin after a stopover in Seoul.
Berlin. As a classically trained drummer, she has always found connections in queer communities and FLINTA* band projects. Eilis has played in various well-known groups such as "Laura Lee & The Jettes", "Party Fears" or "I Drew Blank", as well as currently for her own
bands Kara Delik (Turkish post-punk) and Restless (noisy punk).
Now, after several singles and two EPs, Eilis Frawley is releasing her first full-length solo album "Fall Forward" with ten songs on March 7, 2025 on Sinnbus. The album was co-produced by Kat Frankie, who has been a fan of Eilis Frawley for some time. Together, the
the two artists have recorded a sophisticated, experimental indie album with influences from pop, jazz and krautrock. "Fall Forward" is a unique sound cosmos - innovative, clever and always stylistically confident. It is made up of present drums, experimental spoken word and layered vocals, sometimes spherical, sometimes playful synthesizer sounds and groovy basslines.
