Mia Wray came out of nowhere in 2020 with her almost a cappella single "Work For Me". The power and consistency behind this song and voice was palpable from the very first moment and won over everyone from Australian radio station Triple J to Sir Elton John. Since then, the Melbourne artist has become one of Australia's most acclaimed up-and-coming artists. With her clear-as-a-bell voice, her blunt lyrics and her exuberant charisma, Wray simply captivates everyone. The talent is no accident: in her hometown of Noosa on the east coast, she honed her craft in bars, restaurants and country clubs, where she sang the blues and soul, just her and her guitar. After a few gigs in Melbourne, where she later moved, she realized that a bigger, bolder sound lay dormant within her. And since "Work For Me" at the latest, she has been the talk of the town. With her new-found self-confidence, she ventured into new territory. This was followed by a number of singles and, last year, the celebrated, self-titled EP, on which you can hear how the artist has developed in the direction of Florence + the Machine, Adele or a cheerful Lana del Rey. Her alt-pop with an extra twist of musical creativity, her infectious power and colossal live presence earned Wray further props and ultimately led her to Europe, where she also fully convinced us with her debut performances. In April, the latest single "What If" was released, on which the Australian weighs up the great feelings she has for someone in a list of pros and cons - and ultimately decides in favor of the relationship. This track also lives from Mia Wray's strength and joy in music. She returns to Germany for two shows in September.
