Museen zu Gast: Domgrabung

Ruth Stinnesbeck M. A., director of the Cologne Cathedral excavation, in conversation with Prof. Dr. Sebastian Ristow about the two top-class archaeological sites of the Cathedral and Praetorium. Both excavations were initiated by Otto Doppelfeld, the city archaeologist at the time. The cathedral excavation from 1946 to 1997 is now open to the public with guided tours. Parts of the Praetorium were excavated in 1953 and have also been made accessible to the public. The program at the MiQua:froum on 12.9. will focus on the Roman period features and finds from both excavation sites as well as questions of continuity from Late Antiquity to the Early Middle Ages.

About the MiQua:forum:

The MiQua:forum in the Red House at Alter Markt opens its doors every Thursday from 11 am to 6 pm. In addition to information about the museum project and the short programs offered by MiQua researchers in the afternoon, additional new offers introduce visitors to the topics and research work of MiQua: VR glasses, a selfie wall, an image gallery and showcases.
